I decided to try out my calf to see how it would handle things if I ran, I took it mile by mile with a max of 6 miles. It was sore throughout the run but I was able to complete it and my splits were alright. They went as follows; 8:07, 8:11, 8:02, 8:05, 7:51, 8:01 for a total of 48:24 my average pace was 8:03 which was really surprising. I will take Sunday off as usual and hopefully I will be able to do my regular 7 mile run on Monday with minimal pain and go from there.

I also did 30 minutes of lower body weight training, and I also did some calf stretching to help strengthen the calfs for the future so I can stay away from these nagging injury's.

See ya Monday.

You are starting to get into very good shape. Possibly the reason for the calf injury is the imbalance in growth - e.g one group of muscles gets stronger faster than another, or possibly the heart gets strong, the nervous system gets the signals to push harder, but some muscles are not yet ready, so they get hurt. You just have to be patient, and keep the intensity down for a while even if it feels too easy. That is one reason I try to run at least sometimes with slower training partners at the pace that they find comfortable.

In a couple of weeks it would be a good time for a race to measure your fitness.
