No running today. I am in my soft cast and boot for 5 days and then no running afetr that for another 7 days and then I will evaluate and see where my leg is. I am hoping that I will be able to resume my running and get back to it. I will be doing upper body training 3 to 4 times a week just to keep my from going insane...

Later...

Clay, was this based on a diagnosis from the orthopedic surgeon? If so, what was the diagnosis? I can empathize with the injuries - I have had my share of them, and no matter what it is frustrating. For two years in a row, I had to tell myself, "there will be another St. George" when I had to cancel due to injury. Hang tough, do whatever you can to keep up your fitness. It looks like a tissue tear that I keep tearing everytime I go out whether its the elliptical or running... Sometimes they will heal on there own and sometimes they just keep tearing, which tells me I need to do some strength training in that area. My Brother-in-law made the Diagnosis, he is a foot ankle and knee guy, no stress fracture which is good. after the 10 days or so He will evaluate and seems to think I can start running again but that depends on the degree of healing, so we shall see.

If I am able to run SGM I know that I will probably not be able to run it as fast as I would like, but that would be okay with me. I'll be okay, and you are right there will be other marathons and other mountains to climb, so to speak.

Thanks for your help and concern, and I am still planning on being there and running the SGM...

Cool! I'll bet you are really making that boot look stylish. Now everyone is gonna want one.
