I ran 5.12 miles on my own and I ran out to the big blue mailbox but then I extended up the 200 meter hill into Payson and then I turned and headed for home. My legs were pretty dead but then seemed to loosen up after a little bit, IT band was marginal but not to much of a bother and achillies was about the same as it has been, getting better. After the run Ethan was waiting and wanting to go a few miles so we did, he is starting to get faster in his training runs, we ran out to the old barn via canal road and the average pace was 8:28 and a total time of 17:35 with him out front most of the time especially at the end when he was 40 to 50 seconds a ahead of me. I had one 8:00 mile with him so I am counting that as a marathon pace mile;) I finished up with some strength training on my upper body and then some push ups, all in all a good start to the week and to the new month.

See ya tomorrow.

I just lost my whole entry so here we go again! I ran the mini GU corner route today and I did 6 pick-ups in the first 5 miles and the splits went like this 7:56, 7:56, 8:10, total time was 41:44 with an average pace of 8:19.  The 6 pickups were from telephone pole to pole but the length would be every other pole and then I woiuld recover at the same distance, the pace for the 6 said a 6:40 pace, I don't know how accurate that is but even if its with-in 10 seconds its pretty good. After that I ran 2 miles with Ethan in 18:03 and then I tacked on another mile in 8:30 for a total of 8. I felt pretty good today, a little sluggish but not to bad, its still way hot and humid!!!

See ya tomorrow.

I woke up late this morning so I ran 3 miles with Eth and then after that I went and did another 4 miles, started out slow and then slowly build up the pace until at mile 6 I was at 7:50 pace after that I slowed down the last mile to just under an 8:30 mile to finish up. My legs were not into it today so I really had to concentrate just to get through the run, my average pace was 8:25 with my total time at 59:10. Mile 6 was tiring but then when I saw the pace I went I could see why, I don't know if its the humid air or the hotter than normal mornings that are taking its toll but my energy level is pretty much gone! Oh well, no strength training this morning as I am late and I need to get going.

See ya tomorrow.

I ran in the afternoon today as I was not able to run this morning out of laziness. I was having a really good run and I had about a half mile left when something went really wrong on the top of my left foot, very very painful! I was just able to hobble home and I'm afraid that maybe I have broken it!!!!!!!!!!! I hope that its not the case but the way that it is feeling, there's a good chance;( I'm icing as we speak but I know what a break feels like so I am not optimistic! Just before it started to hurt I was thinking to myself how good I was feeling and how much fun I was having and then BOOM just like that I might be out for awhile. I thought at first it was a cramp but I think that was wishful thinking, I'll have to go and get an ex-ray here when my wife gets home and then see where we are at... My average pace was 8:30 with 2 of the miles at 7:23 and 7:27 both downhill and I was holding back on them, total time was 59:51. The last mile was fittingly at a 9:11 pace on the dot sounds kind of weird I know but that is the honest truth! S&$$#$&$%T!!!!!!

Updates to come.

Well folks I'm at a very sad place! I have a cast on  my foot and I have a stress fracture as I thought, I'm pretty down but not out, theres really nothing I can do other than just roll with it and see how it turns out... My brother-in-law wants to keep it on for 10 days and then take another ex-ray to see were I'm at, but I know I'm out for 6 weeks at least so just grin and bare it! I won't be posting much but I will be checking in on everyone else just to see how you are all doing. I think the most disappointing part is I won't be able to run the 5K this weekend with Ethan, his first, he has been working his butt off and its a bitter pill to swallow. Well,  I guess in six weeks I get to start all over again! Running can be a brutal sport, unfair at times and down right disappointing, alot like life!  So I guess the big guy upstairs is trying to teach me patience, so far its not working;(

Later!

I had to log my son Ethans' First 5K today, since I am out and casted up I wanted to post his race and let him know how proud I am of him... Ethan was in first place in his age most of the way but he had a kid pass him in the last little bit of the race, and ended up taken 2nd place. He looked effortless the whole race and I think he has just touched the surface on his running possibilities, he averaged a 7 minute pace but he wasn't even working hard, at least it looked that way, just nice and smooth. I tried to get him to wear my Garmin but he didn't want to he said he wanted to run by feel, which is really surprising. There were about 500 runners and he took 24th overall and 2nd in his age division and he really enjoyed it to which I was praying for, that he would have a good experience and that he would want to continue to run and race. He told me before the race that he was running for me cause I was out with my injury, he's just a good kid and a good example to me and he makes me want to be a betrter person just being around him.

Congrats Son.

I got my cast off today but I am still in some pain but the good news is there is not a fracture, other wise it would have showed up on the ex-ray today... So this seems to be tissue damage which my doctor says is almost worse than a stress fracture because it takes just as long if not longer to heal. I am in a surgical shoe now which limits the motion and takes the stress off the balls of my foot, which will help with the healing process, and that is alot better than that darn cast. I can live with it. But, I'm Pretty sure that St George is out for this year and right now my main goal is to get back to running, even if it is only a few miles a day. So I will keep hoping that each day it will get better and better and then I can get back at it sooner than later.

See ya.

I just wanted to post for a minute and let you all know that things are not progressing very well, but I am scheduled for Physical Therapy tomorrow bright and early so hopefully they can get me on the road to recovery... I'm trying to stay positive but its pretty difficult, just ask my poor wife, she deserves a medal for putting up with me! This has been the longest month of my life, but this to shall pass, so they say.

I will let you know how it goes.

Later.
