I wasn't able to blog after my run this morning so I'm doing it now... I played Golf this morning so I was kind of in a hurry, shot 74. As I started running this morning I was really concerned about my hip and leg but after about 5 or 10 minutes it seemed to loosen up so that was a good sign. Kept the pace easy for the most part and ran on the flats so to speak, no hills, my legs are pretty tired but I think that is a combination of this mornings run and walking 18 holes of golf! My average pace was 9:28 with my heart rate at 145,total time was 47:39. I am hoping my heart rate will come down as I continue to run, usually at that pace its in the lower 130's. Ran into Pat and Kent and also so Tom, was able to stop and talk to my brother as well, it was good to see him out in the morning so he doesn't have to fight the heat!

Well that's about it, I'll see you on Monday with hopefully no injuries!

Well, my leg and hip felt okay, so that is a great sign! I had some zip to my legs today, at least more than Saturday anyway but as the run progressed that started to fade... I had a pretty good mile in there at a 8:36 pace and it was working me pretty good too! I know that it is pretty silly but that use to be my recovery pace but today I will make it a Marathon pace mile HEHE! My average pace was 9:03 with my average heart rate at 150, this is way to high for this pace I am hoping that this will come down in the up coming days and weeks a head... I got chicked twice this morning, once by the G-ber girl who I don't mind chicking me but then the other girl who chicked me I usual pass with out much trouble I did push it up the little hill that takes me into Payson and I almost caught her, so Brent would be proud of me!I went out a little fast this morning so on my way back I took it pretty easy as to not over do it. I am scheduled to run the Riverwoods Half Marathon this Saturday and if all goes well this week I will probably give it a try, I will use it as a nice easy long run and just try to have fun and enjoy the company of my fellow bloggers, but I will see how I feel this week and then go from there...

I also did my standard weight training on my upper body, 2 sets of each exercise...

I just lost my whole entry so I'm re-typing again, I hate that! Hip and leg are pretty sore, I was able to get in the run and that is about it. Average pace was real slow 9:56 total time was 50:01 average heart rate was 134. I did some core training and then did the weight training on my legs, I am hoping that I can recover enough to run tomorrow, but we shall see... I ran the mini Gu corner route but stopped about a half mile short as not to over do it. I ran into Pat Loss and chatted for a minute and then I headed for home, very, very, very slowly.

Well I felt a little better this morning as far as my hip and leg are concerned, I don't know if it was the strength training that I did yesterday or what but it was tolerable today:-) I ran up Loafer to the stop sign and then turned west for about a quarter of a mile and then turned and headed back for home. I took it pretty easy on the downhill , but what was weird was when I was running up loafer it almost made my injury feel better, it seemed to really stretch it out so that was a good sign. My pace going up was okay (9:40) and my heart rate was in the 160 range, so not to bad my average pace for the run was 9:38 and my heart rate average was 145, total time was 38:37... I had to cut my run short this morning because I had to be the dentist at 8:00am and I woke up a little late, but with the hill work that I did this morning I think I will cut myself some slack,  I might run a little with my son later this evening but I will have to see if he is up to it.

So all in all it was an okay run and I hope that it feels even better tomorrow so I can start getting in a good grove.

I ran out towards mini GU corner but again stopped about a half mile short as my legs were getting tired, injury was a little sore after the first couple of miles so it seems that every other day its sore and then I have a marginal day the next, so tolerable...  My average pace was 9:09 with my heart rate average at 139 (better) and my total time was 46:00. I still don't know about Saturday and the Riverwoods Half, that course is alot down hill and I am afraid that it might do more harm than good so I will have to see how I feel tomorrow and then make a decision. In my heart I want to run it but my body is telling me a different story, soooo I don't know what to do! I did have two miles today under the nine minute mark which was kind of better, but I don't know if I could even last for 13 miles I seem to have a hard time getting through 5 at the moment, I don't know...

I also did my standard weight training on the lower body and then some core training to go along with that.

I had a real nice even paced run this morning, ran out towards Payson and then headed back to my house all via canal road. My leg and hip felt pretty good going out but then with about a mile to go it started to get a little sore, which seems to be the case most days, but I feel like it is on the mend. I still don't know what to do about tomorrow, I would like to go and give the race a try and just take it easy and see what happens, but I just don't know... I will probably go over later today and get my number and then see how things go tomorrow morning and see how my leg recovers and how it feels. I feel like I could probably complete it and finish all right but I just don't want to have a set back. Average pace was 9:31 with my heart rate average at, 136(better) total time was 48:49...

I also did my standard weight training on the upper body, 2 sets of each exercise with 12 reps in each set.

See ya tomorrow.

I decided not to run the Riverwoods Half this morning, my heart was saying yes but my body was saying NO! I think I made the right decision, I just dont think I would have benefited from so i didn't run it... Instead I ran out towards pretty little hill, I did that twice and it is alot hillier than what I remember, I did it both ways so I had some hills in there today along with some flatter area's. My average pace was 9:30 with my heart rate at 134(Best yet for that pace) total time was 1:16:38 I had a negative split on the way back and I think that was toughest of the two section's that I ran so that was a good sign still not very fast though. But that's okay at least I was able to run 6 days this week so I will not complain!

See ya Monday!

I started to think today about some of the goals I would like to accomplish for the week and the only thing that came to mind was just running and hopefully not missing any days because of my on the mend injury! On a sad note, I sold my motorcycle yesterday it was hard seeing it drive off, but it had to done, maybe some day I will be able to get another one. I do want to run Loafer again and maybe go a little further up the canyon this week, and if my legs will let me I would like to do a long run of 10 plus miles on Saturday. I would also like to through in Harry's Hill too, but that might be pushing it just a bit! We went to the Salem Day's fireworks last night and it was pretty cool there was lightning going off along with the fireworks so it was quite a show, awesome!

Well that's about it, I hope everything goes well for this week...

See ya tomorrow.

I ran the Payson canal route out and back, my legs felt pretty tired and wore out! My hip area was a little sore, but tolerable in fact my last mile I picked up the pace a bit and it all most felt better at the faster pace which was kind of weird... My average pace was 9:12 and my heart rate monitor was a little out of wack, my first mile it said my heart rate was 195 which was wrong, but by the time I was finished it seemed to be working right and it said my average HR was 143 so I guess it was less than 140 if you take out that first mile. Total time was 47:28, I had a pretty quick mile on my last mile and it was 8:14 so that was kind of neat, that's about a minute off where I would like it to be, but I will get it back. I also did my upper body weight training, two sets of each exercise with at least 12 reps in each set.

That's about it,see ya tomorrow.

Well my goal this morning was to run out to mini GU corner and do my old out and back, I just wanted to take it easy. Groin area was a little sore, but again tolerable, I am hoping that I will be pain free by the end of the month, at least that is my fervent prayer anyway! My average pace was 9:13 with my heart rate average at 138, total time was 55:42. I did my 6 mile loop and then when I got home my son Ethan wanted to go out for a little half mile run I wasn't going to count this but since my heart was around 140 for the little run I thought I would count it. Ethan kept saying lets go faster dad, lets go faster so I had to real him in just a bit. Tomorrow I hope to do Loafer canyon and this time go a little further up, I also did my lower body weight training. 1 set of each exercise with at least 12 reps in each set, I also did some core training on the rubber-ball and some push-ups...

See ya tomorrow.

I ran Loafer canyon this morning and as I was going up I ran into Michelle so we joined up for most of the run. I was planning on going a little further today than I did last Wednesday, I was thinking I would go half way from the first stop sign and the Elk Ridge turn off, but we ended up going up to the Elk Ridge Turn off and I was pretty much dead by then. My breathing wasn't to bad unless your comparing yourself to Michelle who wasn't even breathing hard... My average pace was 9:17 with my heart rate at 146 and my total time was 55:38 for 5.77 miles, when I got home my son Ethan wanted to go for a half mile run so I took him out and again he doesn't no the meaning of slow I had to keep reeling him in! So it was a good run and I appreciate Michelle slowing down to join me up Loafer canyon, we had some good conversation. My groin was a little sore at the end but I am icing as we speak, so hopefully that will do the trick so I can run again tomorrow, no strength training today...

See you tomorrow.

I ran out towards mini GU corner but stopped a half mile short and then headed back for home, legs felt good going out but then on the way back they got tired, my groin was sore on the way back too... Other than that I felt pretty good this morning, my average pace was 9:09 with my heart rate average at 137 and my total time was 46:40. It is really good to be out running even though I am not at full strength, its good to be logging some miles. I also did my standard weight training on my legs 1 set of each exercise with at least 12 reps in each set, and then I finished up doing some crunches on the rubber ball and some push-ups...

I had a rough night last night so I slept in and I just barely was able to complete my run for the day. I had to try out my new toy the Garmin 405, and it worked pretty good no problems so far:-) It even wirelessly transfer-ed data to my computer like it said it would, the only problem was it said I ran on Saturday when I looked at in the Garmin connect program but on the watch it was correct, so not bad... My average pace was 9:15 with my heart rate average at 139 total time was 28:42, I hope to do a long run tomorrow but we will have to see how my groin is doing. I would have to give my rating on the Garmin 405 as a 4 stars out of 5, pretty close to a five I'm still not sure about the battery life and if I can power it of completely at night, but that is part of the fun trying to figure it out!

See ya tomorrow.

Well today was a good day, my legs felt really good starting out and I decided that I would run as long as my legs would let me! I wanted to keep my pace around 9:15ish and just cruise around but I had five of the miles that were really good so I will count those as MP miles even though they were about a minute off where I should be. Those went as follows; mile 5 8:30, mile 6 8:37, mile 9 8:33, mile 11 8:35, mile 12 8:09. Pretty good considering where I have been since coming back from my injury, if I improve as much over the next few weeks as I have for these first two weeks I should be okay:-) That last mile was really cool because I didn't feel like I was working any harder than the other miles, I seemed to get stronger as the run went on which I haven't been able to do since my injury. My average pace for the whole run was 8:42 with my heart rate average at 149 and total time was 1:45:22, I am hoping for things to continue to improve and I would like to do some tempo training in the up coming weeks to see if I can get some of my speed back. But of course that has to depend on how I am doing over all, but today was a good day, small victories are always fun!

See ya Monday.

I did the Payson park loop except I stopped about a mile short of the park, I hope to incorporate that last mile into my Monday route here soon. My average pace was 8:56 with my heart rate average at 142, total time was 57:31. I felt pretty good today, my hip was a little sore but the pain subsided after I got warmed up, and it feels pretty good right now. My legs recovered nicely from the long run on Saturday so that was pretty cool, I hope that next week I an work in some interval training and maybe do some faster tempo miles but we will have to see...

I also did my standard weight training on the upper body 2 sets of each exercise and 12 reps in each set.

I had the worst night last night, I'm on no sleep, 2 hours is being generous. About 5:30 I was laying there and just decided to get up and get my run in, rather than lay there in bed and feel like I did. So I headed out and my hip and leg were pretty sore, but as I got further into the run it seemed to loosen up and then by the end it felt pretty good. I did have some tightness in my left achilles but it seemed to get better to towards the end, that left leg has really been giving me fits the last few months, its really been frustrating! I ran out towards mini GU corner but stopped about a half of a mile short and did some light stretching and then headed back for home. My pace was pretty slow so I decided to catch the 9:30 guy and so I speed up and that mile was an 8:38, and then finished up with my last mile being an 8:26 mile pace.  My average pace was 9:12 and my average heart rate was 137 total time was 47:02.

I finished up with my lower body weight training, 1 set of each exercise with 12 to 15 reps in each set, with low weight, and also did some core training on the rubber ball and 60 push-ups.

See ya tomorrow.

Wednesdays are Loafer Canyon Days, and my legs were not wanting to run up that darn thing this morning to top it all off I had a head wind all the way up, brutal. My legs were totally wiped out from the lack of sleep, although I did sleep a little better last night but I still feel like I've been beaten senseless with a bat! I took it real slow going up and tried to to the same coming back down, my average pace was 9:40 with my heart rate at 140, total time was 58:28 my last mile was 8:42 so I'm counting that as a MP mile... My heart rate going up was 150 to 155 and then coming down I took it pretty easy and it was 127. I know the reason why I am feeling tired is because of the sleep issue, its so important to get a good nights sleep. My hip was really sore today, it affected me going up and on the way down I hope that it is feeling better tomorrow.

No strength training today because its my day off, I can't believe it's the first day of school summer went fast, my stepson Mason is in High school this year at the new Salem Hills High School, he was really excited. It should be a fun year with everyone.

See ya tomorrow

My legs felt pretty good this morning so I thought that maybe I would do a tempo run of 2 miles and really try to push it. I ran out to mini GU corner, out and back, and started with a 2 mile warm up and then I settled into the tempo run my splits went as follows;

1.9:27(134) warm-up

2.8:56(143) still a warm-up

Tempo Miles.

1.7:28(154)

2.7:06(159) slightly up hill, and I am really starting to feel it in my quads...

Cool Down.

1.9:06(151) heart rate a little high, probably due to the tempo.

2.9:06(144) Heart finally settling down.

Average pace was 8:33 with my heart rate average at 146, total time was 51:54. My leg =felt pretty good, I am icing as we speak, tempo mile number two I was really starting to feel it but that's a good thing. I finished up with some core training on the rubber ball and some push-ups. I will skip the weight training on my legs because of the tempo run, I don't want to over do it!

I just did a nice recovery run this morning, my hip was a little sore but not bad and it seemed to get better as the run progressed... I ran out toward Payson, out and back and it was a beautiful morning. My average pace was 9:09 with my heart rate average at 138, total time was 47:08, my legs were a little tired after yesterdays little tempo run but they did better than I thought they would. Tomorrow I hope to do at least 15 miles and maybe more depending on time available and how I am feeling, we shall see:-)

I finished up with some strength training on my upper body with the bowflex, 2 sets of each excersise with at least 12 reps in each set, low wieght.

See ya tomorrow.

I ran out to GU corner and then down into the river bottoms to my 5 mile marker and then I did a little two mile tempo run starting easy and then finishing a little stronger towards the end. First mile was slightly up hill 8:30, and the second mile I picked it up just a bit and it was 7:43, after that I took a GU and then headed back towards home. I took a little detour and run up around pretty little hill and then back to my 2 mile mark from my home rested for about 60 seconds and then headed for home. I finished up with a mile loop around by my house, my groin was pretty sore to start out but after a while it loosened up and was all right. My average pace was 8:53 with my heart rate average at 142, total time was 2:13:50 not real speedy and not as fast as last week, but still okay.

Well that's about it,  see ya on Monday.

My legs were kind of tired this morning, also my hip was a little sore but it seemed to loosen up about 2 miles into the run and then by the end it was tolerable:-) I was hoping to be pain free and totally healed by the end of the month but it doesn't look like that will be the case, I am still fighting this thing... Its tolerable but it is always there reminding me that I need to be careful. I ran out towards Payson Park but stopped about a half of a mile short, I hope to go all the way to the park on next Monday which brings in the nice rolling hills. My average pace was 9:12 with my heart rate average at 138, total time was 56:22. So I took it pretty slow and didn't try to push it as my hip was sore and my legs just weren't into it this morning! After the run I finished up with some upper body weight training, 2 sets of each exercise with at least 12 reps in each set, with low weight.

That's about it for today, see ya tomorrow.

My hip was extremely sore this morning even to the point of wondering if I should run, it finally loosened up but it took it almost until the end of the run to start to be tolerable, most days with in a mile or two its feeling good but not today:-( I am hoping that today was just a bad day and that tomorrow it will do better, I was able to kick it up a notch on the last mile with some strides that last mile was around an 8:00 mile so that was a small victory... My average pace was 9:15 with my heart rate average at 137, total time was 46:35 I also finished up with some lower body weight training on the legs and also some core training along with some push-ups.

I ran the Loafer Canyon Route this morning, my hip and groin area were extremely sore this morning, but I just took it easy and towards the end I was doing some 8 minute miles. I almost got ran over today by some deer, they totally spooked me at least they weren't bears that would have really been spooky! My average pace going up was 10:00 coming down it was a sub 8:30 mile on the way back for an average total of 9:30, my heart rate average was 139 total time was 57:24... I am going to hook my self back up to the E-Stem machine and start shooting some electricity into my groin and hip area to see if that will help with the healing and get it feeling better, it has been pretty sore the last week... Well that's about it, I guess I will see ya tomorrow. Hopefully I can still walk and run!

I just lost my whole entry so I will have to give you the shortened version. Hip was really sore but after about a mile it loosened up nicely. I ran out to GU corner and threw in some strides, I had some faster miles in there that I will count as marathon pace miles and they went as follows;

Mile 3- 8:04 (146) with 4 strides.

Mile 4- 8:30 (141) with 2 strides and then I took it pretty easy.

Mile 6- 8:12(146) on this one I did a half mile tempo.

Finished up with my lower body weight training on the Bowflex and then did some core training on the rubber ball and added in some push-ups at the end. All in All I am happy with the run this morning, I hope tomorrow goes just as well. The E-Stem machine seemed to help my hip loosen up quicker so I will continue to use that every night to see if continues to help it heal.

See ya tomorrow.

I think the E-Stem is working so I will continue to do that every night before bed and hope for the best. I ran out towards Payson park but stopped about a mile short as this is an easy day and I need to conserve energy for the long run tomorrow. My average pace was 9:22 with my heart rate at 133, total time was 48:43 so it was a nice easy recovery run. I also did my upper body weight training, 2 sets of each exercise with at least 12 reps in each set. Well, that's about it. long run tomorrow and I am suppose to run with my neighbor and one of his friends so we will see how that goes.

See ya tomorrow.

My hip was feeling pretty good today which is a change, so that was pretty cool. I ran this morning with my Neighbor Jeff Long, he's running SGM, and we had a good time with some fun conversations. He spent a year in Afghanistan and got blown up by a suicide bomber he is lucky to be a live! It was good to here about the war first hand from someone who actually has been there and he shared with me alot of great success stories that our going on over there that we as a nation never here about. Mostly because of the Elite media and how they don't want us to succeed over there, which is really sad, most of the military guys have no use for the elite media. He said they really like to listen to Fox news as they were the only ones who would tell the truth about what is going over there, it made me angry. I sure appreciate his service, he is a true inspiration to me...

Well, back to the run, we ran out to the riverbottoms via canal road and did the two mile loop down there and then we headed up around pretty little hill and then we made our way back home. Our average pace was 8:45 and  my heart rate average was 143, total time was 2:11:37, we had some faster miles in the middle but for the most part we took it easy. We stopped and chatted with all the Spanish Fork group at GU corner for just a bit and that was really cool seeing everyone, it was the first time I have run with out my music in a long time and it was kind of fun...

Well thats about it time for a nap!
